If you invoice clients abroad, payment fees are a quiet tax on your income. A July 2026 comparison puts numbers on it, for a 1,000 dollar international payment.

A SWIFT wire costs roughly 70 to 100 dollars all in. PayPal runs about 45 to 69. Wise is cheaper at 5 to 15. A stablecoin sent on a low-cost network costs under a cent, though you will usually pay 0.5 to 1.5 percent to convert it into local currency. On 5,000 dollars a month, the article estimates PayPal costs 225 to 345 dollars a year and wires 840 to 1,200.

Speed differs too. Wires take three to seven business days. Stablecoins settle in seconds to minutes.

The caveats matter more than the savings. Many clients simply cannot pay in crypto, which is the real barrier. Cash-out options are uneven outside major markets. A stablecoin is only stable while it holds its dollar peg. Note also that the source company sells a stablecoin, so read its comparison with that in mind.

If you try it, start small. Use a payout platform that handles compliance rather than a raw wallet, compare cash-out providers for Thailand before committing, and log the date, amount and value of every payment. Stablecoin income is generally taxable as ordinary income when you receive it.
